9 ways to conquer Copenhagen's waters
It doesn't take much more than a few rays of sunshine before Copenhagen's waterfront is filled with renewed energy and joyful faces. Here are some tips on how to enjoy the city's beautiful lakes and canals.
Enjoy a floating picnic
Glittering water, fresh air and good food is just a great combination. With HeyCaptain! or GoBoat or some of the other boat rentals and tours you can pretty much bring your picnic anywhere.
Swimming in the harbour baths
Copenhagen's waters are clean enough to swim in, which makes the city's harbour baths vibrant with life all of the summer season. Make sure to swing by for a dip at Nordhavn or one of the other locations.
In a swan-shaped boat
The Lakes are an amazing hangout spot and a peaceful oasis in the heart of the city, and one of the best ways to see them is in a bird-shaped boat. Rent these beauties from Kaffesalonen.
At your own pace
Probably the most popular way to enjoy Copenhagen's canals. Get your own kayak or a guided tour from Kayak Republic.
On the traditional tour
No matter how many times we've done this, the canal tours never go out of fashion - especially not on a sunny spring day.
Learning how to surf
Okay, Copenhagen might not be top of mind when it comes to surfing destinations, but the inlet at Amager Beach Park at the nice instructors at Copenhagen Surf School is actually a pretty perfect place to jump on a board and get some wind in your hair.
Beat the cold on a winter's day
Another activity you probably didn't add to your itinerary just yet is CopenHot's sailing hot tubs. An alternative way of cruising through the harbour (which you'll probably get to yourself).
With public transport
The harbour buses take you all the way through the harbour from Sluseholmen in south to Refshaleøen in north. A pretty nice way to see the city and get around - and it only costs the same as a bus ticket!
Or be creative
Okay, we admit not everyone can just put together a homemade raft, but come on - how great is this?
